System Operation
This waste gas incinerator serves as a critical environmental protection facility for the 300,000 t/y propylene oxide (PO) production unit, processing 9,418-13,316 kg/h of industrial exhaust gases. During operation, pressurized waste gas is delivered to the incinerator burner and undergoes high-temperature oxidation combustion in the furnace chamber, maintaining flue gas temperatures of 900~1,100°C with sufficient residence time to ensure complete combustion.
To mitigate thermal and prompt NOx emissions generated during high-temperature combustion, ammonia injection nozzles are installed at appropriate temperature zones, utilizing selective non-catalytic reduction (SNCR) for in-furnace denitrification. The heat from combustion is recovered via a waste heat boiler, producing 9~12 t/h of saturated steam at 2.5 MPaG and 226°C. The boiler system comprises evaporation tube bundles, an SCR reactor, an economizer, an induced draft fan, and a chimney. After heat recovery, flue gas is discharged through the chimney following emission standards compliance. The entire unit occupies an area of approximately 40 m × 25 m.
Operating Principle
The Direct Thermal Oxidizer (DTO) first heats the combustion chamber to the set temperature using fuel. Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are then introduced and decompose into CO₂ and water at high temperatures, releasing significant thermal energy. External equipment such as heat exchangers and boilers recover the thermal energy from purified high-temperature flue gas to achieve energy savings and reduce consumption.
Ruiding provides comprehensive system design based on factors including airflow, composition, concentration of VOCs to be treated, and desired removal efficiency. Tailored, cost-effective VOCs treatment solutions are customized to specific requirements. When waste gas concentration is sufficiently high, the system can operate without additional fuel input, maintaining furnace temperature through self-sustaining combustion at moderate Lower Explosive Limits (LELs).
