This Catalytic Oxidation system was designed and implemented by Jiangsu Ruiding Environmental Engineering Co. for Qingdao Siyuan Chemical Co., Ltd. The system effectively treats volatile emissions generated during chemical product manufacturing processes, as well as emissions from loading and transportation operations.

To meet Qingdao City emission standards while minimizing operational costs, we developed an economical solution featuring an innovative "cryogenic + CO" off-gas treatment process. This advanced approach replaces traditional cryogenic plus adsorption technologies commonly used for tank area gas treatment.

The treatment system handles 650 Nm³/h of tank area volatile gas and 350 Nm³/h of loading volatile gas. The 20×10 meter unit includes a three-stage condenser recovery system, reheater, catalytic reactor, electric heater, and other essential components, ensuring compliant emissions through the combined cryogenic + CO unit.

The project achieved mechanical completion on October 30, 2022, completed commissioning on November 20, 2022, and commenced full production operations in early December 2022.

Operating Principle

Before entering the Catalytic Recuperative Oxidizers (CO), volatile organic compound (VOC) containing gas passes through a heat exchanger for preheating.

The preheated gas enters the CO system and is elevated to the catalyst's working temperature. An exothermic reaction occurs as pollutants convert into carbon dioxide and water vapor. The resulting clean hot flue gas then passes back through the heat exchanger, transferring thermal energy to incoming air before being discharged through a chimney.

Utilizing catalysts with different oxidation temperatures allows for lower inlet temperatures (typically 250-305°C). Heat released during oxidation reactions in the catalytic bed raises the chamber temperature, potentially reaching 300°C depending on VOC concentration and calorific value. The lower inlet temperature reduces energy requirements for maintaining oxidation temperatures, resulting in significant energy savings.
